SMS continues to gain popularity among patients as the preferred method of contact when receiving communication from practices.

At almost four times the popularity of all other forms of communication this shows just how crucial it is for clinics to be using SMS, not only for reminding patients about upcoming appointments, but also for educating them on preventative health services and chronic disease plans.

The findings also demonstrate the need for practices to look to mobile for other ways of supporting patients. These may include, health apps for monitoring chronic conditions, mobile check-in, SMS recalls and even doctors instructions sent directly to patients via mobile.
